Ingredients
1 pound of raw penne
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 pound extra lean ground beef
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
1.5 cups marinara sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1.5 cups grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 406F and place the rack in the middle position. Grease a 9 × 13 baking dish (use Pam spray).
Boil a large pot of sallted water for the penne. Cook 10 minutes (it should be lightly cooked so that it does not become soft).
Add the oil, meat and onion to a pan. Sauté over medium-high heat, slicing meat as it progresses, for 10 minutes. Once it has started, add the garlic. Pour in excess fat if necessary.
Add the marinara sauce and heat. Try it and season with salt and pepper if needed.
Drain the pastta and pour it into the baking dish. Pour the meat mixture on top, then stir until combined with the pasta. Top with an even layer of cheese.
Cook for 10 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese melts well. Then I roast it for a few minutes (optional) to brown the cheese a little. Serve immediately.
